Abstract

Akovalızâde Hâtem Efendi is a divan literature poet who lived in the eighteenth century. According to several studies it is understood that Akovalızâde Hatem Efendi has aspects of music as well as poetry, even he wrote an edvâr. But apart from this, there is almost no information, especially about the content of Hatem Edvarı. The aim of the study is to introduce the edvâr of Akovalızâde Hâtem Efendi and its general features to the history of Turkish music theory at least from second sources. For this purpose, three works ( Kevserî Mecmuası , the manuscript named Edvâr-ı İlm-i Musiki dated 1806 and numbered “T-1856” exist in the Istanbul University Library and Hasim Bey Mecmuası dated 1864) are examined which are mentioned Hatem Edvârı and the information about Akovalızâde Hâtem Efendi Edvârı are compiled and it has tried to reveal the outline and content of the edvâr.
