Abstract
Furans are one of the ageing by-products produced and partially dissolved in transformer oil as a result of degradation of insulation paper in power transformer. The analysis of furanic compound thus widely used as a diagnostic tool to assess the health state of transformer paper insulation system. The correlation of furans data and the degree of polymerization (DP) has been previously studied to establish the end life criteria of in-service power transformer. This paper presented the post mortem ageing investigation on insulation material of power transformer. The DP profile of the axial and radial direction of transformer winding was presented. In addition, the correlation of 2FAL concentration and the average DP value of the transformer were compared with the existing established empirical equations correlations.
