A new method is proposed based on the object direction aiming at the demand of the stereo mapping for airborne SAR image. Using the method, the single SAR image and DEM data are enough comparing with the traditional method that the two SAR images are indispensable for calculation. The paper proposes the space intersection formula for the new method that is used for stereo positioning. The vertical parallax is cleaned between the stereo images by using the new method and the horizontal parallax is preserved or increased. The method is used for stereo interpretation and stereo positioning in the SAR image mapping. The method has been used on the project of the National West Mapping Project. Abstract
The method of traditional stereo positioning for airborne SAR image is based on the image direction that the two strip images are used for stereo images.
