Abstract
This article suggests that the overall effectiveness and integration of government publications will be determined largely by the degree to which government publications are included in the overall philosophy of library collection development. A model is suggested as an aid to integrate government publication collection development. The model emphasizes needs assessment and collection development objectives as a means of further administrative integration. Also included is a worksheet to assist the documents librarian in translating community and collection needs into objectives. After discussing a number of myths related to government publications collection development, the article concludes with suggestions to implement an integrated approach to government publication collection development.
