Abstract

Secondary metabolites obtained from bacteria have an important role their diverse applications and use in various industrial fields. Today, the constant search for novel enzyme and antibiotic are carried out from actinomycetes obtained from different sources. Actinomycetes obtained from the extreme environments are known to be producers of novel enzymes and antibiotic with great industrial potential. In this study, Actinomycetes isolation was performed by serial dilution method from compost obtained Cystoseira sp. algae collected from Black Sea coast. Enzyme contents by qualitative method and antibacterial activities by using cross streak method of isolated actinomycetes were investigated. Identification of 6 actinomycetes isolates with high enzyme and antibacterial activity was performed according to morphological, physiological and 16S rDNA sequence analysis. A total of 73 actinomycetes isolates (BSC) were obtained from the compost samples. When the enzyme activities of actinomycetes isolates were evaluated, it is found that 68.5% of these have amylase, 100% have cellulase, 47.9% have chitinase, 94.5% have pectinase, 98.6% have protease and 96.3% have lipase/esterase enzyme production. The highest antibacterial activity was observed against Staphylococcus aureus and Enterococcus faecalis, which inhibited 98.6 and 84.9 % of the tested actinomycetes isolates, respectively. It has been determined that the actinomycetes isolates (BSC-13, BSC-17, BSC-37, BSC-38, BSC-45 and BSC-49) with high enzyme and antibacterial activity belong to Streptomyces genus according to 16S rDNA sequence analysis. Secondary metabolites from actinomycetes are likely to be used in different industrial areas in the future.
