Abstract

This work discusses the peculiar needs of amplitude-gain-control (AGC) loops in oscillators for Lissajous frequency modulated gyroscopes. After comparing possible implementations, a novel dual-mode architecture is disclosed, to simultaneously enable a fast start-up and no relevant distortion of the intended proof mass trajectory. Experimental results on an integrated 50-kHz frequency-modulated gyroscope confirm a start-up time of about 100 ms, with minimized control errors and without any noise worsening.
