Synthesis of ternary complexes in presence of co-ligand (secondary ligand) with one or two donor atoms is included. Some amino acids, picolinic acid, 8-hydroxyquinoline, 1,10-phenanthroline, dimethylsulphoxide, triphenylphosphie and pyridine are used in preparation of the ternary complexes as representative examples of NN, NO, S, P and N donor ligands. A considerable attention is paid to the application of these ternary complexes in DNA binding and cleavage study.
