Le attestazioni della tribù Palatina come criterio di indagine per la storia sociale: l’esempio del territorio africano

Abstract

The article examines the epigraphic attestations of Roman citizens from Africa, through the question: “What are the reasons for this tribe?”. Scholars have generally focused on the relationship between the tribe and the territory. Analyzing Africa as a case study, this article argues that the Palatine tribe is a criterion for investigating social history, since the freedmen and their descendants were usually ascribed to this tribe.
