Abstract

The Internet of Things (IoT) promises to allow everyday objects to connect to the Internet and interact with users and other machines ubiquitously. Regional networks such as LoRa and Sigfox have been deployed to provide connectivity to end devices, where multiple channels are used to increase network capacity. However, channel synchronization can induce significant overhead as devices join and leave the network. In this paper, we present a passive and fault-tolerant multi-channel synchronization solution, Mc-Sync, that requires no communication with the base station while achieving low join latency.
