Ag@TiO2 is characterized by appearance of the additional plasmonic peak. This main peak shifts to the short-wave spectrum region when the shell thickness increases and under deformation. Moreover, the additional peak is practically not sensitive to such changes. Abstract

Comparison of spectral characteristics of TiO2@Ag and Ag@TiO2 core-shell nanoparticles has been carried out. It is shown that in the case of TiO2@Ag the spectral position of the extinction peaks shifts to the long-wave spectrum region when the shell thickness changes and when the nanostructure is deformed (elongated). Ag@TiO2 is characterized by appearance of the additional plasmonic peak. This main peak shifts to the short-wave spectrum region when the shell thickness increases and under deformation. Moreover, the additional peak is practically not sensitive to such changes. It should be noted that with a certain shell thickness such structure will have characteristics similar to silver nanoparticles.
