Abstract

Based on a minimalist active power decoupling circuit for single-phase inverters, this paper proposes an improved control solution that does not require sensing the DC-link current, as in previous implementations, but only the DC-link voltage. To prove effectiveness of this solution, the proposed inverter is tested with linear and non-linear output loads and the results are compared with the conventional inverter solution in terms of capacitance requirements. The simulation results of a 1kVA inverter, suitable for implementation with silicon carbide MOSFETs, shows that the proposed control method provides good performance under difficult operating conditions created by the nonlinear load.
