Abstract: The evolution of the Qipao dress for more than a century can be considered as a paradigmatic case of the history of fashion in China. For foreigners it is a fragment of the traditional culture of China, and for the Chinese it is a figurative identity. In the case of In the Mood for Love, the Qipao is presented as an actor. Through this work, we want to apply the methodology of the semiotics of culture and the semiotics of fashion to approach the object of study.
