In both groups resting breathing was normal. During sleep all RLM patients had frequent arousals, four had significant sleep disordered breathing (SDB), only one non-RLM patient had SDB. Our findings in humans resemble those in animals with focal RVLM lesions. This review provides evidence that in humans there is an area of chemosensitivity in the RLM. Abstract
