In the photonics market facts speak for themselves: according to the report “PHORIT. The Photonics in Italy” carried out in the context of the European Platform Photonics21 and published in 2008, European turnover in this area in 2006 was € 49 billion (equivalent to approximately 19% of the world market), with 246.000 employees in 5.000 companies.
