Interventions for men who batter: Do we know what works?

Abstract

This article discusses controversies in the field of offender treatment and reviews what is known about treatment effectiveness. Thus far, very little is known from research findings about effective treatments, as few well-controlled studies have been conducted to date. Some innovative approaches to retaining men in treatment show promising results. The article also focuses on definitions of program success and suggests ways to judge the quality of program evaluations. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
