Making a Treaty: The North American Experience

Abstract

A paper written by Canadian anthropologist Diane Barwick to help the 1979 Aboriginal Treaty Committee in discussions on a possible Treaty with Australian Aboriginal people is presented. She offers information on earlier North American treaties between the government and Indian natives in Canada and the United States to aid the process.
