Abstract

The 1/f noise in a digital super-mode distribute Bragg grating (DS-DBR) lasers is investigated. The voltage noise spectral density of each sections, including the active and the tuning sections are characterized before and after aging. The results indicate that aging increases the noise level from pn junction defects in the active region and the saturation noise level in the passive sections.
