Coronary artery disease is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide with the heaviest toll in the developing countries. Material and Method: The study was done in 170 subjects. The study subjects were selected randomly from patients, who were visiting the OPDs and indoors of various departments in Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Ranchi Results: It was observed that the total prevalence of metabolic syndrome is 20.6 % Conclusion: The data obtained after the study shows that one out of every five adults in Ranchi is at an increased risk of developing diabetes and/or cardiovascular disease. Women are equally prone as men.
