Abstract

Anthropology and politics have been epistemologically related at four structural levels: space, time, contlict and rite. Some anthropologists have made contributions to these four levels, tuming political anthropology into a subdiscipline. The delimitation of the minimal space for the emergency of the 'political' has been central to all the orientations of political anthropology -from the evolutionist to the processual-. On the other hand, political anthropology as an intellectual practice is deeply influenced by the day-to-day political vicissitudes.
