This is the first report, to our knowledge, about the HSP88 from Paecilomyces tenuipes Jocheon-1 (P. tenuipes Jocheon-1), an entomopathogenic fungus also known as the vegetable wasp, and plant worm. P. tenuipes Jocheon-1 is an ecotype of the corresponding species. Dongchoonghacho, a kind of silkworm mushroom produced from the entomopathogenic fungus of P. tenuipes, has been known as a mysterious ancient medicine in Asian countries, particularly in China, Korea, and Japan. This paper describes the molecular cloning of HSP88 cDNA from P. tenuipes Jocheon-1, the expression of cDNA, the deduced amino acid sequence of the protein, and the influence of the heat shock treatment on the corresponding mRNA expression levels.
