The extracts of the plant revealed the presence of alkaloids, carbohydrates, flavonoids, quinines, steroids, tannins, phenol etc. The antimicrobial activity was carried out by Disc Diffusion Technique at Periyar Pharmaceutical College, Trichy. The plant constituents were characterized by UV (Ultra violet), FT-IR (Fourier Transform Infrared) and GC-MS analysis. The functional groups present were confirmed by FT-IR analysis. Abstract

The plant Corchorus tridens Lbelonging to the family Malvaceae form the part of the traditional medicine system.
