Functional and morphological efficacy of surgical treatment of macula ruptures of different etiologies by implantation of amniotic membrane

Abstract

The aim of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of amniotic membrane implantation in macula ruptures. The study included 86 eyes with a macular tear greater than 400 µm. The technique of implantation of the amniotic membrane in case of macular ruptures provides anatomical success in 96.51 % of cases and functional success in 91.86 % of cases. Macular rupture as a complication of vitreomacular traction syndrome was the least favorable prognostic situation compared to traumatic (p < 0.01) and myopic ruptures (p < 0.05).
