Mudal Spring is the main source of clean water for the people of Bulu Village, Bulu District, Rembang Regency. The increasing need for clean water requires sustainable water resource conservation efforts. The purpose of this study was to analyze the condition of the Mudal spring and the clean water needs of the households of Bulu Village and to analyze the role of local wisdom in efforts to preserve the spring. The research was conducted by observing in the field the condition of the springs used for household water supply, interviews related to household clean water needs and the local wisdom of the Bulu Village community which plays a role in efforts to preserve springs. Respondents totaling 30 people, who are users of young springs and community leaders or village officials who live around the springs were interviewed to obtain data on the use of springs and local wisdom in spring conservation which is still being carried out today. The results showed that the results of the water samples from the Mudal spring met the water quality standards which included physical, chemical, and bacteriological parameters with a total need for clean water in Bulu Village of 136 liters/person/day, this shows that the total water demand of Bulu Village residents greater than the water requirement according to SNI, namely 60-90 liters/person/day. The large demand for clean water requires efforts to conserve springs for the sustainability of water resources in the future.
