Metallography of magnesium amalgams with peritectic microstructures

Abstract

The microstructures of alloys that show peritectic formation of the compounds Mg₃Hg and Mg₅Hg₂ were studied after continuous cooling. Identification of phases present was performed by means of x-ray diffraction, microhardness tests, and differential thermal analysis.
