Abstract

The laser Raman spectrum of S2Cl2 varies with the sample temperature and/or the laser power. The Raman signals of S2Cl2 decreases as the sample molecules within the laser beam are dissociated by absorbing 514.5 nm photons. Above 540 K and 2 W of laser power, new resonance Raman and fluorescence bands appear. These bands were all assigned to S2Cl. The fluorescence bands could be classified into two transition systems.
