Homocysteine is a modifiable, independent risk factor of ischemic stroke.\nObjective: To evaluate the effectiveness of folic acid on homocysteine levels in ischemic stroke patients.\nMaterials and Methods: This study was an experimental study carried out in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Rajshahi Medical College in collaboration with the Department of Neurology, Rajshahi Medical College Hospital from July 2016 to June 2017. A total number of 90 ischemic stroke patients diagnosed by CT scan findings who came for treatment in the Neurology department of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital were enrolled in this study. Simple random sampling is done. The patients were divided into two groups: experimental group (45 patients) who were treated with 5mg folic acid along with other traditional treatment, control group (45 patients) who were treated by only traditional therapy given by the neurology department. Before starting treatment, along with other investigations, serum homocysteine level of both experimental and control groups was estimated. After three months of continuous treatment with folic acid in the experimental group, the serum homocysteine level of both groups was measured again. 背景:一些危险因素是缺血性中风的原因,有些是可以改变的,有些是不可改变的。同型半胱氨酸是缺血性脑卒中可改变的独立危险因素。目的:探讨叶酸对缺血性脑卒中患者同型半胱氨酸水平的影响。材料与方法:本研究于2016年7月至2017年6月在Rajshahi医学院药理学与治疗学系与Rajshahi医学院附属医院神经内科合作开展的实验研究。本研究共纳入90例在Rajshahi医学院附属医院神经内科接受CT扫描诊断的缺血性脑卒中患者。简单随机抽样就完成了。将患者分为两组:实验组(45例)在给予5mg叶酸治疗的同时给予其他传统治疗;对照组(45例)只给予神经内科传统治疗。在开始治疗前,与其他调查一起,对实验组和对照组的血清同型半胱氨酸水平进行了估计。实验组连续给予叶酸治疗3个月后,再次测定两组血清同型半胱氨酸水平。数据分析使用SPSS version 16 for windows。结果:实验组与对照组治疗前后同型半胱氨酸水平数值差异不大,但实验组5mg叶酸治疗3个月后变化有统计学意义。结论:叶酸对降低缺血性脑卒中患者同型半胱氨酸水平有重要作用。KYAMC学报第13卷第01期,2022年4月:13-17
