Abstract

The financial world has been attracting great attention with its changing instruments in recent years. With the advent of technology, people from almost all walks of life gained the opportunity to invest in financial instruments. With this aspect, both small and large investors gained the ability to act in international markets. In addition, sudden rises and falls in investments that are open to outside intervention necessitate intense follow-up by investors. The concept of addiction, which was initially only associated with substances, brought up the issue of addictions, which were not directly related to substance intake, but were demonstrating related characteristics with substance in “Substance-related and addictive disorders” category of DSM-5. In particular, the pathological gambling habit is a pioneer in this regard. In addition, there are increasing studies in the literature towards behaviors in daily life such as gaming and internet shopping demonstrate some characteristics of addictions caused by substances. In this study, it is aimed to present compiled information about the problematic cryptocurrency habit, which has been widely used recently and has high risk factors, while at the same time, studies on behavioral addictions encountered in the financial sector have been tried to be revealed.
