Collection development and state publications

Abstract

Selection and acquisition processes relating to state government publications are discussed. The literature on collection development and written library collection development policies are examined to determine the extent to which state documents are included. Specific selection and acquisition aids, as well as patterns of bibliographic control are noted. Data on state publication depository programs are summarized. Major library resources of state publications are reviewed and the future direction of state publication collection development is commented on.
