Registros arqueomalacológicos en el centro de Argentina: el uso de Megalobulimus y otros moluscos en cuentas y adornos personales

Abstract

Malacological artifacts (N = 1944) from different archaeological contexts in the Province of Cordoba are analyzed and currently make up different collections. Among the raw materials, the use of native molluscs stands out, such as the morphospecies Megalobulimus. There are also exotic species to a lesser extent such as Urosalpinx haneti, from the Atlantic Ocean. It is recognized that this material represents beads or personal ornaments, highlighting a great variety of artifacts made from Megalobulimus that give it an identity character at the regional level.
