Abstract
The Club Atlético River Plate is one of the most important sports institutions in South America. In the last six years, the Buenos Aires club returned to the top of continental soccer. And for three decades, the Department of Psychology has accompanied this growth, not only at the level of amateur soccer, but also in professional soccer. With work in the quarry in general and in pension in particular as pillars, the sports psychologists at River Plate deal with issues as diverse as uprooting, the pressure exerted by parents and mental training without losing sight of the socio-environmental context of each player in the child-youth categories. It is a comprehensive view, which also includes a psychoeducational perspective and accompanies the soccer player throughout his process, whether he finishes as a professional or not. Sense of belonging, identification and team spirit are values transmitted from the quarry and continue in the professional team. The work with the players of the first division on the variables of team sports (motivation, concentration, self-confidence, control of fears and pressures, leadership, communication and resilience, among others) intensified after the arrival of Marcelo Gallardo to the bench in 2014, and has continued throughout his successful coaching cycle to the present day. After going through a necessary process of legitimation, with the practice “transferred” to places as diverse as fields, concentrations and airplanes, and with interand trans-discipline as a framework, the Department of Psychology made numerous contributions, among them, the ideation of a motto that became the leitmotif of the River Philosophy: “With Work and Humility, # We All Win”. A registered trademark (and translated from conscience to practice) by a historical and multi-champion team.
