Drawing attention to the connection between economic inequality and unemployment is based on the fact that these factors represent the factors crucial in lowering the level of the living standard as well as a poverty increase, i.e. inequality par excellence. After a long period of turning a blind eye to this problem, economic inequality received greater attention in the 1990s, since the increase in income inequality had become apparent in the 1980s.
