Abstract

Although technology has changed our expectations out of all recognition, allowing us to communicate pretty much with anyone at any time anywhere in the world, human nature has not evolved in 40 years. As technology has enabled an increasing number of people, including line managers, to work from home, the clinical research enterprise has seen the advent of the remote manager—the advantages and possible disadvantages of which (and how to compensate) are discussed here.
