Kesatuan Dan Keseimbangan Dalam Struktur Visual Ilustrasi Pawukon Jawa

Abstract

The main topic in the article is to discuss about the layout of the pawukon illustrations which could be found in some of Javanese scripts. This kind of script develops along with the writing technology and became the part of cultural Javanese artifacts that can convey values from previous generations. Illustrations as part of the of the manuscript have an important communication function and cannot be separated from the visual structure or arrangement of the illustrations. The method used in the discussion is based on the interpretive analysis through an aesthetic approach, specifically limited to the principles of unity and balance, and the clarity of the hierarchy in the illustration. Pawukon illustration cannot be separated from the description explanation in the text. As a part of the visual structure, the principle of unity, balance and hierarchy of the illustration could be considered an aspect that influenced the delivery of messages.
