Abstract

Second gradient models are usually non local. Recently local second gradient models have been developed. They can be seen as a particular case of microstructured media which obey a kinematic constraint. It is then easy to build up a large strain finite element method useful for 1D as well as for 2D or 3D problems. A one-dimensional example is finally given.
