Of the various metal/ceramic combinations examined, a coating comprised of a cobalt matrix with chromium carbide inclusions was found to meet the required specification. The major aspects connected with the application of plated coatings to aero-engine parts have been investigated for this material combination and each requirement has been met. Abstract
Electrolytic co-deposition has been evaluated as a process to determine whether it can produce metal/ceramic composite coatings which will control high temperature wear.
