Abstract

Greases, with and without load-carrying additives, have been prepared using liquid paraffin as the base oil. The thickening agents used were lithium 12-hydroxystearate, Baragel (an oleophilic clay) and oleophilic graphite. Penetration and four-ball load-carrying tests were carried out on the lubricants, and the extent of adsorption of the additives onto the thickeners was determined.
