Leisure, recreation and tourism in socialist countries

Abstract

Some trends in the quantity, timing, and uses of leisure time in socialist countries are reviewed, and are related to the needs of individuals and society as a whole. These needs point to increased weekday leisure and longer annual leaves (but not to longer weekends), and to activities leading to personal and social improvement.
