Abstract

CHILL and Ada are programming languages designed both for embedded computer applications. CHILL originates from the CCITT, Ada from the US Department of Defense. Because the languages are of a similar nature, they are often compared. This article compares both languages with respect to their standardization aspects. In addition it discusses the problems of the description of programming language standards and the related issues of portability and re-usability of programs.
