Abstract
Objective
To know the effect of cataract operation in Pixian rural areas of Sichuan. The sight of the patients who had been done the cataract surgery were analyzed. The main reasons which brought about the postoperative poor visions in Pixian were analyzed.
Results
There were 313 cases (313 eyes) in this study. The eyes which out of visual hand icapped(visual acuity≥0.3) were 67.09%(210 eyes). The eyes which out of blindness (visual acuity≥0.05) were 88.82%(278eyes). The eyes which out of visual handicapped(corrected visual acuity≥0.3) were 83.71%(262 eyes). The eyes which out of blindness (corrected visual acuity≥0.05) were 93.61%(293eyes). The main reasons which caused the poor vision in Pixian was refractive errors, posterior capsule opacification(PCO), abnormal vitreous and optic atrophy.
Conclusions
The cataract surgery in Sichuan Pixian is helpful for solving the problem of the blind persons caused by cataract, but the long time postoperative visual acuity is unsatisfactory. The refractive errors and PCO are the main reasons. So the first two missions are to reduce the refractive errors and to solve the PCO after the cataract surgery.
