Abstract

Abstract In recent years, the tendency to use natural compounds has been increasing due to the upsurge in antibiotic resistance. For this reason, studies are carried out especially with plants having traditional uses. Cotinus coggygria is a plant whose aerial parts are used in traditional medicine. While there are studies on leaves and branches of C. coggygria, there are not many studies on fruits. This study aimed to investigate the antibacterial, antibiofilm, and antiquorum sensing activities of C. coggygria fruit and to elucidate its phenolic profile by using HPLC-DAD. As a result of this study, it was determined that methanol extract was more active than acetone extract in terms of antibacterial, antibiofilm, and antiquorum sensing activities, and methanol extract was rich in chlorogenic acid. This result showed that the methanol extract was more active than the acetonic one in terms of biological activities and that the methanol extract was rich in chlorogenic acid. Graphical Abstract
