Abstract

In the present work, the Bombyx mori silk fibroin films have been prepared by solution casting method and irradiated with high energy electrons. The electron irradiation induced modifications in the samples were examined for structural, optical and thermal properties using X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-Visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis) and thermogravimetric (TGA) analysis. The XRD study revealed that the structural parameters like crystallite size, crystallinity decreases with increasing radiation dose. UV-Vis study indicates the red shift after irradiation. The thermal stability of the samples decreased with irradiation.
