Abstract
A sheet of metal that can weld its own cracks may sound like a concept from the pages of a science fiction novel. But that self-healing is exactly what Brad Boyce of Sandia National Laboratories in NewMexico and colleagues recently captured during experiments exploring the properties of damaged platinum films [1].
