Eschatologie et questionnement thique dans l'vangile de Matthieu

Abstract

Comment discerner les grandes lignes d'une ethique lorsqu'elle n'est pas developpee dans une reflexion systematique, mais integree dans un projet narratif, en l'occurrence l'evangile de Matthieu? Elles ne peuvent etre degagees qu'a partir des actions des personnages du recit et des positions exprimees dans le discours du personnage principal qu'est Jesus. Toutefois, ces affirmations paraissent parfois divergentes, voire meme contradictoires. En appliquant la methode de la Redaktionsgeschichte, cet article tente de degager d'abord la comprehension mattheenne de l'eschatologie. Ensuite, il aborde l'influence sur les propositions ethiques de Matthieu d'autres elements probables du contexte dans lequel celui-ci a ecrit. La troisieme etape est consacree a degager des elements-cles de ces propositions ethiques en cherchant a determiner dans quelle mesure et en quel sens celles-ci sont influencees par les conceptions eschatologiques de Matthieu. Enfin, la conclusion pose quelques questions sur la maniere dont l'ethique mattheenne a ete recue dans l'histoire chretienne ulterieure et sur sa possible actualisation dans la culture et l'Eglise contemporaines.// How can one discern the major lines of ethical thought when they are not developed in a piece of systematic reflexion, but rather integrated into a narrative project, as is the case in the gospel of Matthew? They can only be brought out on the basis of the characters of the narrative and the position taken in the discourse of the main character who is Jesus. However these affirmations sometimes appear divergent or even contradictory. Using the Redaktionsgeschichte method, this article first of all tries to discover the Matthean understanding of eschatology. He then approaches the influence on Matthew’s ethical propositions of other probable elements of the context in which he was writing. The third stage is dedicated to bringing out the key elements of these ethical propositions by seeking to determine to what degree and in what way they have been influenced by Matthew’s eschatological concepts. Finally the conclusion asks some questions about the manner in which Matthean ethics were received in later Christian history and about possible actualization in the contemporary Church and culture.
