Women and Politics

Abstract

In the 1980s the upper echelon of Israeli politics has changed. Yet the "new faces" in the political elite did not include women's faces. Why? To answer this question the paper will deal with women's groups strategies. The women's group related to the large parties did not read the political map correctly with respect to the strategies to be used in the newly democratized electing bodies within the parties. They also did not read the political map correctly with regard to identifying the central objective of the electing bodies within which their own objective could have been integrated.
