Male nodular fasciitis of the breast：one case report and literature review

Abstract

Objective To discuss the clinicopathological features in male nodular fasciitis of the breast.Methods The clinical characteristics，pathologic patterns and immunophenotypic features of one male nodular fasciitis of the breast were studied,with literatures reviewing.Results One male nodular fasciitis of the breast were composed of spindle or fat spindle cell,which arranged in sarciniform accompanied with hyperplastic collagen fiber.Edema and mucinous degeneration of the stroma were often seen,and blood capillary proliferated often with akaryocyte extravasation and inflammatory cell infiltration.The fatty tissue of lump were infiltrated.Immunohistochemistry,Vimentin,SMA of all spindle cell were positive,S-100 were partly positive,and CK,EMA,CD34 were negative.Conclusions Nodular fasciitis is a benign hyperplasia process based on proliferations of fibroblast or myofibroblast,which recurrence after excision is rare and metastasis does not occur with good prognosis.
