Effect of pemirolast potassium on serum IL-4, IL-12 content in allergic rhinitis patients

Abstract

Objective To study the influence of decoction cytokines in allergic rhinitis patients,and explore the therapeutic mechanism. Methods 120 person wererandomized into 3 groups,40 allergic rhinitis (AR)group,40normal control group,40 Pemirolast potassium tablets group.The serum levels of IL-4 and IL-12 were determined by ELISA methods. Results Pemirolast potassium serum level of IL-4 in Pemirolast potassium tablets decoction group significantly decreased compared with that of AR group (68.265±0.542) vs (38.547±1.065) (P<0.01),and the serum level of IL-12 in Pemirolast potassium tablets decoction group significantly increased (9.872±1.514) vs (15.245±1.598) (P<0.01).There is a positive correlation between them. Conclusions The therapeutic mechanism of Pemirolast potassium tablets decoction on allergic rhinitis is decreasing the level of IL-4 and increasing the level of IL-12, which suggests that IL-4 and IL-12 are important factors in the pathogenesis of AR.
