Epidemiology of Lung Cancer in Women: A Hospital-Based Descriptive Study

Abstract

Lung cancer, which was described as “one of the rarest forms of cancer” in 1912 before the introduction of cigarettes, was the most common diagnosed cancer in 2018 (2.1 million, 11.6% of the total). Lung cancer needs to be considered as it is the most common cause of death (1.8 million, 18.4% of the total).1 Although several developed nations now have declining rates of lung cancer, the incidence and mortality rates among women have increased in several western countries.
