Principales características del choque séptico en pacientes críticos. Hospital “Joaquín Albarrán”, La Habana, Cuba. 2013

Abstract

Objective: to characterize the patients with septic shock diagnosis entered in the ICU. The septic shock is a shock state associated to severe sepsis as its more serious expression. Material and methods: this is an observational, descriptive and prospective study to describe the main characteristics of the septic shock in the ICU of the Hospital "Joaquin Albarran”, in Havana during the year 2013. They were used the percentage like summary measure and the Test of Chi-square. Results: 59 patients were studied with diagnosis of septic shock, the feminine sex prevailed with 54,6%. The breathing pathologies went the most frequent to the entrance, the Klebsiella sp. it was the most frequent germ, being the most utilized antibiotics the cephalosporins of third generation. Conclusions: the age and the sex don’t influence in the evolution of the septic shock, the cephalosporins of third generation were not useful for the treatment of the septic shock.
