Acer rubrum, A. saccharum, Carpinus caroliniana, Carya alba, C. texana, Cornus florida, Fraxinus americana, Liquidambar styraciflua, and Nyssa sylvatica were common as mid-level species. Although southeastern Oklahoma has substantial areas of bottomland forest, few studies exist of this vegetation type.
