The analyzes sought to recognize the realities and educational needs of rural populations, as well as pointing out the urban and rural environments as spaces that make up the same universe. In the development of the research we focus the discussions on the changes that occurred with the rural school and the rural education in Spain, through analysis, interpretation and reflection of research carried out by spanish and brazilian scholars with the objective of harmonizing conceptions of rural education in the contemporary society. Abstract
